My task
I am the only designer on the team. My task include develop a Web portal and WebGL for clinics from scratch, similar to an EMR (Electronic Medical Record), and create spatial user experience design for patients with Meta Quest 3. Collaboration with clinicians from UCSF and Stanford, user testing.
Problem
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of mortality and long-term disability worldwide, affecting 12.2 millions of individuals each year.
Rehabilitation is a major part of stroke patient care, aiding recovery and improving overall outcomes for patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. In particular, home-based stroke rehabilitation (HBSR), which Siemonsma et al. describe as a model where a therapist is physically present during therapy sessions at the patient's home, is argued to enhance treatment effects by leveraging the familiar environment, providing greater meaning to tasks, and improving the generalization of learned skills to patients' everyday settings (petra2014).
However, a home visit from a physical therapist for stroke rehabilitation is usually more expensive than in-clinic therapy because of the therapist's travel time and expenses. In rural and remote areas, therapist home visits are rarely offered.
Solution
With a commitment to quality, innovation, and impact, Reia transforms traditional therapy into meaningful and powerful remote VR experiences.
A novel remote rehabilitation system that uses mixed reality. It has been devised for stroke patients to perform therapeutic exercises at home. The system aims to increase the patient’s motivation as well as maintaining the quality of performance for the exercises, similar to the obtained levels when attending face-to-face sessions with therapists.

This concept represents a new era of design—one where aesthetics and strategy work hand in hand to create something truly extraordinary.
